Understand your requirements. Which is the best allergy test  for me?

Is an allergy test best for me?

Take a look at the questions below and our recommendations to guide you to the best allergy test for you or an alternative test that may suit your requirements better. If you need any further help, contact our 24/7 Livechat team.

Do you already suspect an allergen that causes a reaction?

If you have already performed a form of elimination in your diet or lifestyle and are believe that symptoms are caused by a particular or small list of allergens take a look at one of our IgE allergy tests. Our tests range from a limited 35 item allergy test to a wide range of IgE and IgG4 allergy & intolerance test.

What are your symptoms?

The skin: Pruritus, Erythema, Acute urticaria (both localised & generalised), Acute angioedema (lips, face & around the eyes). Depending on the severity of the symptoms we would recommend our Select 35 or Prime 110 test.

The gastrointestinal system: Angioedema (lips, tongue & palate), Oral pruritus, Nausea, Abdominal pain, Vomiting, Diarrhoea. Depending on the severity of the symptoms we would recommend our Select 35 or Prime 110 test.

The respiratory system (usually in combination with one or more of the above symptoms and signs): Upper respiratory tract symptoms (nasal itching, sneezing, rhinorrhoea or congestion), Lower respiratory tract symptoms (cough, chest tightness, wheezing or shortness of breath). Depending on the severity of the symptoms we would recommend our Prime 110 test.

Other: Signs or symptoms of anaphylaxis or other systemic allergic reactions – Recommend contacting a medical practicioner immediately.

Suffering from immediate or acute symptoms is likely you have an allergy. If you suffer from such extreme reactions as loss of consciousness, breathing difficulties, tightness of airways or most seriously anaphylaxis you should not delaying in referring to a medical practicioner.

Are the symptoms a digestive complaint?

Food allergies and intolerance are often confused. Food intolerances present as digestive issues such as bloating, diarrhoea or IBS as symptoms. To understand a food intolerance our IgG4 intolerance tests are the best option. However, if you have previously exhausted conventional testing or are looking for possible sensitivities we would suggest trying our Sensitivity Tests followed by the 30 day aftercare programme.

Do you suffer from visible inflammation?

Rapid inflammation after contact with a known or unidentified trigger is usually a sign of an allergy as a body’s immune response. Severe inflammation can be serious and life threatening and you should contact a medical practitioner. We would only recommend using a home-to-lab allergy test if you have exhausted investigations.

Are symptoms from non-food items?

Allergies can occur from non-food items in the daily home or outside environments. If the reaction is more severe and fast acting it is more likely to be an allergy, if symptoms occur slowly and less severe it is possible it is a sensitivity. An Allergy test is the best first step to determine if it could be a common environmental allergy such as hayfever or dustmite allergy. If these tests do not provide a result to your investigation we would suggest a bioresonance sensitivity test to widen the possible items.
